Morning Pages - A Journey To Self Improvement

Post Script: Typed this on the back side of one of my thermal printer notes. Making the paper do double duty. I attached it to a backing sheet using one of those "Sign Here" sticky things. Be careful if you try this. It will peel the type right of the paper. Hence the smudge on the date line.

  1. Hey Mike, let's correspond! Actually I would probably have already sent you a real letter by now, but there's no contact information on your blog--no address, and no email or social media links by which I could send you a private message to ask for one. Drop me a line! - John

  2. I like the Morning Pages idea. I need to read about it. I often found myself recording my dreams (writing longhand in a journal) first thing in the morning when I lived in FL. I've not gotten back to that since our move to MI in 2017.

I'm not a writer so I'm not much on proper writing. I refer to my college texts I have on style and writing as well as my old copy of the AP Style Journal which is mostly for news reporting writing and a bit on magazines. I used it for my news writing and reporting classes in college as well as radio broadcast news reporting back in the day when I was a broadcaster.

    1. That sounds really cool Bill. The closest I can to being a journalist was a Sunday gig cleaning the building of the local newspaper, The Derry News. I also delivered their papers, I was a paperboy, and I collated the papers before delivery.

    2. I believe morning pages is for creators in general whether it be writing, music, art, etc. I think it is a purgative measure to rinse out the mind.

    3. I did some searching and reading on morning pages. It is a general kickstarter so to speak for being creative. In the process I found some fine blogs which also speak to my creative side. Perhaps they'll instill some energy into my life so I get back to some of the things I've been ignoring due to laziness.

  3. Usually Blogs lack depth for serious learning. They are good for intellectual entertainment (in a good sense), announcements (again in good sense -- for example announcing some new ideas, new articles, new products), "general interests" reading. Not the case with your post though, really enjoyed it reading it and it held my attention all the way through!
